Strobist Flash Exercise
flash

Original image without retouched or photoshopped.
First attempt doing strobist’s flash exercise. Didn’t have a manual flash, used 1 single wireless strobe (40 WS/GN ISO-100:26) covered with a sheet of white paper to reduce the flash output. Camera triggered by Canon RC1 wireless remote with 2 second delay, Flash shot against the laptop’s screen, and bounced back to me and the wall. Shot from a glass dining table with white frost finished on the bottom. This is the beginning of flash photography for me….. still got a long way to go!

Lightbox with ambient flash

I built a light box kind of using instructions from Dennison Bertrams site but after an hour or so of building I realised that I did not actually have the cable that allows you to sync the flash without it being attached to the camera. I therefore tried a long exposure with a low ISO setting and the highest f stop I could get which was f8 and then pushed the test button on the flash when the shutter was open.
After a few tries I managed to get a shot that was not totally white or black, but it’s very overexposed. Not that it’s a bad effect, I might need to photoshop it a bit.
Tomorrow I am off to buy a cable and try again….

Nikon 50mm F1.8G vs Nikon 50 F1.8D

froknowsphoto.com This is a review of the brand new NIKON 50mm 1.8G lens. I compare it with the Nikon 50mm F1.8d Nikon 50mm 1.4g and 50mm 1.4d. You can download the full res images by clicking the link above. All images were taken with the Nikon D7000 with the different 50mm Nikon Lenses. froknowsphoto.com Yes that is over 11k in glass sitting there on the counter. It is what I am calling the prime hebrew trinity plus one. The lenses that are included are the Nikon 24 f1.4 afs 35 f1.4 afs 85 f1.4 afs and 200 F2 VR2. Yes I know the 50mm is not included in that list because its way to inexpensive at 0 and change. But in all honesty I still prefer the older Nikon 50 1.4 AFd over the new Afs. Allen was kind enough to let me come in and put on this amazing display of prime glass. No he did not let me take any of them home yet but I will keep working him on the 200 f2. Which of these four lenses would you pick if you could only pick one, leave a comment. If you would like to pick up any of these lenses for Nikon or Canon please call Allen at 215.547.2841 and ask for the Fro Price

I don’t quite understand your question. But I assume you mean you have run out of space on the memory card. You can download the photos onto your computer. And this, you need to read the manual as there are too many steps to go through.

But if you don’t want to keep those photos recorded on the card, you just delete (or rather, “format” the card). That can be done from the camera’s menu. Be careful as it is not easy to recover those images. You can think of that as once formatted, they’re gone.

why do the NVG and IR filter lenses cost so much?

Question by ericjohn1987: why do the NVG and IR filter lenses cost so much?
on the maglite flashlights, there is an option to purchase an infrared filter or a night vision green filter. but one of them costs over $ 100. why so much for just a piece of plastic?

Actually taken 2010 (will have to change that batch frame text!). Nice to play with f22, polarizer & good trusty Slik tripod (with ball socket manfrotto head). I wanted to get inside the rock & light on a quick half hour grab on the newly named :) SilkCharm cove just down from our place in Tamarama. South Bondi Beach.

I got my scholarship money a while ago. I bought some stuff on e-bay, and the last money went to this beauty. I hope to have a lot of use for it, and I hope I can use it for many years to come!

Amerimax Home #85208 downspout funnel from Home Depot makes a perfect flash diffuser with a large surface area for excellent shadow softening.

Fits perfectly and securely on my Canon Speedlight 580ex II as it comes.

It did come with little tabs sticking off the wide side for attaching with screws to a house or whatever (it’s a part for a gutter/downspout). I just clipped those off with wire cutters.

Ray Flash Ring Light

Just to get this out there, this wasn’t a setup "posed" shot. This is my wife right after I say "stand up against that wall" and right before she thinks I am actually going to take a shot. Hence, the not great looking off to the side look. But, I liked it anyway. Pretty hot huh? :)

This is babaea. I got to play with his SB-800 flash during the last London Calling Photographers meetup. He thought I should use the flash more often, but clearly not when pointing the camera at him.
